African Affinity Project Development
Development of local currency closed user affinity projects
London 25AUG07 -
Developments
within the African region
will within the next twelve months allow CCS UK Ltd (CCS) to
move ahead in collaboration to provide closed user payroll card
disbursement programs to affinity and employer groups across
Nigeria. Additional opportunities will also be extended through
Benin to
Côte d'Ivoire and other surrounding west African states
including Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, Senegal, Togo, Guinea
Bissau. All theses 8 countries belong to the SAME ECONOMIC AREA
(UEMOA), share the same currency (FRANC CFA) and the same
Central Bank; providing the opportunity for cross border issuing
across all 8 countries based on a closed user model.
The
product will be a local currency card for both the Nigerian
markets and an international card for the french african
territories allowing employees access to the world's leading
payment brands. As a parallel strategy the product
(international) will also be offered as a product to the student
and business sector who travel regularly or are based in Europe
during the course of the year for lengthy periods. Nigeria and
French West Africa is experiencing significant growth in
e-banking due to evolving regulations and licensing arrangements
around prepaid issuance coupled with significant investment by
banks in the region to expand the local ATM providing greater
accessibility for card holders to access their funds.
