Australian Loyalty Program
Australian Loyalty Program Launch and
Strategic Positioning
London 17AUG07 -
A recent gathering involving CCS UK Ltd (CCS), a certified
Member Service Provider (MSP) partner and a major australian
membership loyalty provider has led to the forward motion of a
major australian prepaid loyalty initiative due to go live Q1
2008.
By forming relationships with hundreds of australian retailers,
the australian loyalty provider passes on discounts and savings
to their 80,000 membership base (categories range from
restaurants & accommodation to shopping and health and beauty).
Members then earn points for making transactions at merchants
and retailers who are signed up for the loyalty program. The
provision of the prepaid card will enable a way for card holders
to redeem accrued points as cash which is then paid out onto
their card.
Additionally, in August 2007 after six months of informal
discussions CCS is now formalizing arrangements with with an
asian pacific regional strategic partner which when executed,
will give access to additional retail issuing banks for
Australia as well as local issuing banks to cater for programs
emanating in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.
To cater for the increased opportunity within the region CCS
will be opening up a representative office in Western Australia
by end October 2007.
Prepaid debit cards in Australia have experienced the fastest
growth of all financial card sectors over 2006 as their use
grows in public transport ticketing and expands into new
applications such as, retail gift cards, travel cards, employee
expense cards, payroll cards and general purpose cards. Some
prepaid products are even going so far as to substitute the need
for a transactional banking account.
The
four major Australian banks, Commonwealth Bank of Australia,
Westpac Banking Corporation, National Australia Bank and ANZ
Bank, are coming under increased pressure from competitors in
the credit and debit financial card sectors. The Reserve Bank of
Australia’s extensive regulation of credit and debit card
schemes has been a leading cause of this rise in competition,
which has seen foreign banks, smaller-sized Australian banks,
credit unions and mortgage brokers, finance companies and
merchants becoming more active in both the card issuing and
acquiring markets.
